A new alcoholic drinks brand is hoping to provide an answer for consumers who can’t decide between a glass of wine or a pint of beer.
Binary Botanical, a female-founded British beer brand, has launched to provide what it calls a “lighter, beer-like alternative to a glass of wine”. The beverage is available at two ABV levels, 4% and 0.5%, catering for the increasing number of consumers looking for lower alcohol drinks.
Rather than being brewed with hop cones, Binary Botanical uses organic hop leaves, which give a tangy rather than bitter taste. The leaves would normally be consigned to the compost heap, making this a solid choice for drinkers trying to be more eco-conscious. It’s also lower in calories than wine, vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free.
Binary Botanical is produced by the Good Living Brew Company, based on the outskirts of the South Downs National Park in southern England. Its products will be launching in Sainsbury’s stores in the UK from early November and are also available to buy online at binarybotanical.com.
The drink’s makers say it makes a good accompaniment to food and a good base for cocktails, with recipe suggestions on the website.
