Redoux Debuts Bathhouse

Founded by friends Asia Grant and Alejandro Cuevas, Redoux and its line of natural ingredient skincare products featuring sophisticated scents have taken the beauty sphere by storm. Coverage in top publications including Vogue and Architectural Digest, retail partnerships with goop and The Real Real, and the company’s recognition within Glossier’s Grant Initiative for Black-Owned Beauty Businesses have resulted in swift success.

Grant started Redoux merely as a passion project, never intending that her line of soaps and serums would one day require her full attention. But success has caused the former marketing consultant to turn her attention fully to Redoux, the products of which are made by hand and scented with botanical oils, with aromas inspired by food, art, conversation, and cultural history.

The current product line includes a Turmeric Botanical Bar, Borage Ginseng Active Serum, Moringa Mallow Energy Balm, and the 529 Candle, each scented with a spicy, citrus fragrance inspired by summertime in New York City. New to the lineup is ‘Bathhouse,’ inspired by the cross-cultural ritual of bathing and the feeling of relief that comes from a proper deep cleanse. In developing the scent, Grant was inspired by traditional bathhouse culture; she focused on capturing the feelings associated with a love of baths, the ritual of which helps to quiet external noise and release internal tension.

“We felt it was important to introduce Bathhouse specifically at this time,” said Grant. “This year has shown us the importance of rest, so we created a soothing, fresh scent that centers and calms.”

Bathhouse ingredients include spirulina, a blue-green microalgae with a high concentration of macronutrients — like essential amino acids — vitamins, and minerals, and rice milk, a centuries-old Asian beauty tradition packed with vitamins B and E, and antioxidants like manganese and selenium. The scent is a relaxing combination of Ylang Ylang, French Lavender, Palmarosa, and Eucalyptus.
