Hamond announces new project ‘Pirate Radio,’ drops “Pieces”

Hamond has announced his new project, Pirate Radio, which arrives June 8 via No Matter. Additionally, the Houston artist has shared new single “Pieces.”

Hamond’s mellow vocals carry “Pieces,” and interjections from a gently growling guitar keep his laid-back delivery fresh. “Pieces” is the project’s third single, following “Badget” and “Angels.”

Pirate Radio is named for radio stations that broadcast without a valid license. These unauthorized stations were key players in boosting the popularity of many genres such as rock ‘n’ roll and dance music.

The 10-track project will explore the concept of unauthorized radio broadcasts while blending electronic, pop and R&B influences. In a press release, Hamond described the project as “a hijacked broadcast that flows through stories of unrequited love and relationships that fizzle out.”
