What to do if You Notice Inflammation

Inflammation can cause havoc on your body. In fact, it is one of the major factors in many chronic diseases and health issues. Inflammation can occur locally, such as when you have an injury. However, the problem is chronic inflammation, and this often occurs systemically. You may not be aware if your body has chronic inflammation, but there are some common signs that indicate inflammation. If you suspect it is an issue, there are things you can do to help heal your body.

How to Spot Inflammation

When you know what to look for, it can be fairly easy to recognize inflammation. You may be asking, what are the 5 classic signs of inflammation?

  1. Poor digestion

If you have issues with digestion, such as bloating, irregular bowel movements, frequent constipation or diarrhea, or stomach discomfort, you may have chronic inflammation. This can result in leaky gut, in which toxins leak out into the rest of the body.

  1. Overall body pain

Although you may notice a pain here and there due to an acute or overuse injury, chronic body aches may indicate inflammation. This can spread to joints and muscles, causing aches and pains.

  1. Decreased energy

If you are always tired and low on energy, even if you feel you get enough sleep, you may have excessive inflammation in the body.

  1. Extreme mucus production

Your body’s mucus membranes make excess phlegm when they are inflamed. This results in a chronic runny nose and potential sneezing and coughing.

  1. Rashes

Bodily inflammation can also show up on the skin. Symptoms of inflammation include psoriasis, eczema, and other rashes.

What it can do to Your Body

Acute inflammation is usually a good thing, as it is the sign that your body’s immune system is functioning correctly to fight off a virus or infection. One of the things you can do to help boost your immunity and rid the body of a virus is to take a natural flu medicine that does not have the side effects found in over-the-counter and prescription meds.

Chronic inflammation, on the other hand, is not good. Some of the health issues association with inflammation are:

  • Heart disease
  • Cancer
  • Obesity
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Depression
  • Arthritis

Treatment for Chronic Inflammation

Diet plays a big role in causing and preventing inflammation. Avoid inflammation-triggering foods, such as red meat, sugar, fried foods, and refined carbohydrates, and focus on eating more vegetables, olive oil, fatty fish, fruits, and nuts. Other things you can do are reducing stress levels, getting enough sleep, drinking lots of water, and exercising.

Inflammation can be caused by an excess of toxins, which are found in processed foods, household chemicals, and polluted air. You may want to detox flu symptoms or perform an herbal cleanse from time to time to help the body get rid of toxins and other chemicals. Your body may also benefit from  supplements that help boost your immune system and reduce inflammation. Some examples of these supplements include probiotics, fish oil, resveratrol, and turmeric.
