If I listed some top celebrity names like Christiano Ronaldo, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, A riana Grande, Selena Gomez, Dwayne Johnson, Kylie Jenner, and Katy Perry, you’d probably think they were involved in some type of upcoming TV or media special. Just to be clear, you don’t have to be a Kylie Jenner or a Christiano Ronaldo to become a social media influencer. And, you don’t need millions of followers either. There are many “micro influencers” who have as few as 1,000 followers that earn good money promoting products on social media. And while the average age of influencers is between 25 and 30, young kids are making money as well. Companies often are faced with cybersecurity issues when it comes to influencers. Those problems have to do with an influencer who turns out to be fake, or doesn’t have the followers they claim to have. The agencies also work to avoid any ethical problems, in instances where the influencer is involved in activities or behaviors that damage the brand’’s integrity and image. Scandals happen, after all, and companies have little control over their outcome.
