Australia needs to have a ‘strong focus’ on spending

Independent MP Allegra Spender says her view is that Australia needs to look as much at spending reform than tax reform.

“I think the point on spending is that we need to really assess, you know, are we getting value for money for all the spending that we do undertake,” Ms Spender told Sky News Australia.

“I think ultimately we need to have a strong focus on spending.”

Ms Spender said she agreed with former treasury secretary Ken Henry that Australia needs “significant tax reform” because it’s a “drag on our growth”.
