Australia’s ‘long term prospects’ is a focus of federal election

Independent candidate for Wentworth Allegra Spender says people are “concerned about the long-term prospects for Australia” as the cost of living rises.

Ms Spender said the rising costs of energy could force a pivot to renewable energy on a wider scale as it is cheaper especially considering the “recent oil price shocks”.

“You look at the petrol price increases and what the difference that would have been if we’d had a higher uptake of electric vehicles, we would not be subject to those sorts of shocks,” she told Sky News Australia.

“So I think absolutely investing in climate and also listening to our businesses right now about what they need, which is absolutely skilled migration, are some of the things that will impact cost of living over time.”
