Commonwealth to invest $540 million into COVID protection measures

The Commonwealth government will invest an additional $540 million in COVID protections measures, Health Minister Greg Hunt has announced.

As part of the investment, funding will go into extending the nation’s pathology measures, supporting the aged care sector, financing the National Incident Room and $48 million will be invested into research funding.

“I am very pleased that as part of the ongoing management of COVID, the Prime Minister and the Treasurer, through the National security committee and the expenditure review committee, have approved an additional $540 million investment in COVID protection measures,” he said.

“So as the world looks at and works through the impacts of COVID, there’s the prevention, there’s the treatment, but there’s also the long-term impact.”
