Gas industries ‘are going to get it in the neck’ with new safeguards: Canavan
There is “a lot of confusion” across the energy market on whether mining projects can continue despite “paying all the bills” in Australia after new omission safeguards look to be introduced, according to Nationals Senator Matt Canavan.
“Even though non-coal or gas projects like iron ore and nickel mines, they use a lot of diesel – with this cap coming in place … will that mean they have to offset all their omissions?” Mr Canavan asked on Sky News Australia.
“What does seem clear is, for the gas industry at least, is they are going to get it in the neck.”
