Man shot dead in Sydney’s west

Homicide detectives are combing the scene of a deadly shooting in Sydney’s west on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to Fairfield about 2.40am after reports a man had been shot.

On arrival they found a man, 34, with gunshot wounds, who died at the scene on William Street.

“A 34-year-old was found with gunshot wounds; and despite efforts to revive him, he died at the scene,” NSW Police said.

“Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command have established a crime scene and will investigate the shooting with assistance from the Homicide Squad.”

Sections of William and Harris streets will be closed, and the community is urged to avoid the area.

Police are appealing to the public for help as they piece together the incident.
