Paul Keating treated like ‘that mad uncle’ following AUKUS comments

Strategic Insights Australia’s Michael Shoebridge says the modern Labor Party is treating former prime minister Paul Keating like “that mad uncle at the barbecue”.

This comes after Mr Keating called on the Albanese government to withdraw from the AUKUS security deal.

“I expect Mr Albanese to just say what he said with the previous Keating outburst when he criticised AUKUS,” Mr Shoebridge told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“Which is to say he always listens to Mr Keating, but Australia needs to stand up for our values and interests, and China has changed.”
