Tragic twist in nine-month-old’s death

A nine-month-old child who was found unresponsive by paramedics this week was positive for Covid-19, new reports suggest.

Emergency services were called to a home in the western Sydney suburb of Doonside just after 10am on Monday.

Paramedics found the child to be unresponsive and treated her at the scene, but were unable to revive her.

NSW Police did not confirm whether the child had Covid, with a spokesperson saying it was a matter for the coroner.

“Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death,” NSW Police said in a statement.

Forensic detectives are working to determine the cause of death.

The parents are being questioned by police, who have not announced any charges.
