During a raging pandemic, La Poutine Week will make deliveries

Article content

Despite the pandemic, La Poutine Week, the not-quite Canada-wide initiative to sell as much fries, curds and gravy as possible, will take place during the first week of February and involve more than two dozen Ottawa-area poutine purveyors.

Because COVID-19 has ruled out indoor dining at most of the 700 participating Canadian eateries in provinces from B.C. to Nova Scotia, the poutine campaign, which first took place in 2012, has partnered this year with food delivery service SkipTheDishes to bring poutine to people’s homes.

Some of the Ottawa eateries crafting poutine to go for the week of Feb. 1-7 are Flapjack’s Canadian Diner and The Prescott, both on Preston Street, Big H Shawarma & Poutine on Swansea Crescent, the World Burger locations on Merivale Road and Tenth Line Road, Good Eats Cafe on Afton Place, Giant Panda Restaurant on Lees Avenue and the 3 Brewers locations on Sparks Street and Kanata Avenue.

Poutine fans can find a full list of participating eateries at lapoutineweek.com. Fans can also vote for their favourite poutines on the website. When the week is done, winners will be announced in a range of categories.
