An investigation stemming from a tip from a member of the public led to five police raids in Aylmer and Val-des-Monts and eight arrests Thursday and the seizure of a laundry list of illicit drugs.

Search warrants were conducted at houses on Madiran Street and Boulevard de Lucerne and apartments on Front Street and Du Patrimoine Street, Gatineau police said in a release Friday.

An address on De La Promenade Road in Val-des-Monts was also searched with the help of MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais police.

Police seized 115 grams of cocaine, 237.7 grams of illegal cannabis, 28 grams of hashish, 1,000 speed tablets, three grams of wax concentrated cannabis, 20.6 grams of psilocybin, bags of cannabis infused chocolate and candies, 226.7 grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of fentanyl.

Police also seized a conducted energy weapon, a baton, a machete, an air gun, a pellet gun, drug trafficking paraphernalia and $12,500 in cash.

Five men and three women were arrested and released on promises to appear in court at a later date. Drug trafficking-related charges were referred to prosecutors, Gatineau police said.
