Getting around: Stunt-driving in the snow, LRT closes for maintenance Sunday

Article content continued

Road conditions were much improved Thursday – although lines for snow-tire installation and body shops were likely long.

Fortunately, a moderate freezing rain episode that began late Wednesday ended well before the morning drivers hit the road, although there seemed to be some slippery patches in suburban areas.

Expect the next snowy commute Monday with periods of rain or snow forecast during the day and snow overnight.

A reminder to LRT users: O-Train Line 1 will close temporarily Sunday.

Frequent R1 replacement bus service will operate, OC Transpo said. Entrances to most stations will also be closed.

The entrances at Blair Station will be open for riders to access R1 bus service from the local platforms, the pedestrian bridge and Gloucester Centre.

Staff will be on hand at Line 1 stations to help direct riders.

Rideau Transit Group will use the closure to expedite work on switch heaters and complete additional work and maintenance to improve system performance, OC Transpo said.
