Man, 33, charged in Carleton Place armed robbery

He remained in custody Friday, while awaiting a bail hearing.

Police have made an arrest in the case of an early morning gunpoint robbery in Carleton Place earlier this week.

The robbery occurred at 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday at a business on Townline Road, Ontario Provincial Police said. The suspect entered the business, pointed what appeared to be a firearm and demanded cash. He fled on foot after taking cash and cigarettes.

On Thursday, Lanark County OPP arrested a 33-year-old man and charged him with one count of robbery with a weapon. He remained in custody Friday, while awaiting a bail hearing.
