Gatineau police made an arrest, but no charges had been laid Saturday in the death of a woman in her 70s that was being treated as “suspicious” pending further investigation.
A 911 call reporting that a woman was unconscious summoned first responders to a home on Pigeon Street in the Buckingham sector at about 7:30 a.m.
When officers arrived, it was obvious to them that the woman could not be resuscitated, police said.
A man in his 60s was arrested at the scene and taken to the police station, where he was to be met by detectives while forensics officers examined the scene.
No charges had been authorized by prosecutors as of Saturday afternoon, police said, adding that no further information would be released immediately “in order not to interfere with the investigation.”
