Man charged in connection with break-ins at apartment buildings in Sandy Hill, Centretown and New Edinburgh

Ottawa police said its break and enter unit has solved four break-ins reported at apartment buildings in Sandy Hill, Centretown and New Edinburgh since mid-January.

Investigators identified a suspect after reviewing surveillance videos and recovering DNA evidence from a scene, the Ottawa Police Service said in a release Thursday.

A 59-year-old Ottawa man is charged with four counts of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, three of them to commercial premises and one to a residence, three counts of possession of break in tools, and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

Anyone with information was asked to call the break and enter unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 4533.
