Man drowns in Mississippi River west of Ottawa

A 25-year-old man has drowned in the Mississippi River near a village west of Ottawa.

Lanark County OPP said officers were dispatched to a call near Blakeny around 9:45 a.m. Sunday. The village is northwest of Almonte.

Officers arrived and found the man had died.

Police didn’t have additional details about the drowning. Investigators were looking into the circumstances.

The man’s name wasn’t released.
