OPP appeals for help to find angel headstone stolen from Seeley’s Bay-area cemetery

Leeds County OPP is appealing to the public to help them bring an angel home for Christmas.

The headstone was reported stolen Dec. 17 from a gravesite at a cemetery on County Road 32 in the Berryton area. It’s near Seeley’s Bay, about 110 km southeast of Ottawa.

It’s not clear when the headstone vanished because the person who reported it stolen had not visited the cemetery for several months before visiting the grave just before the holidays.

Investigators have looked into leads but “our next step is to appeal to the public,” Acting Sgt. Annie Collins said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the OPP on 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
