Ottawa firefighters free trapped motorist following south-end collision

Ottawa firefighters freed a driver trapped in a car after a motor-vehicle collision in south Ottawa.

Ottawa Fire Services responded to a call for assistance just after 5 p.m. Tuesday following the collision at the intersection of Snake Island Road and Blanchfield Road, near Osgoode.

Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and freed the trapped driver using specialized hydraulic equipment. The driver was freed in seven minutes.

A spokesman for the Ottawa Paramedic Service said two people were treated: one in their 90s and the other in their 20s. Both were taken to The Ottawa Hospital’s Civic campus in stable condition with injuries that were not life-threatening.
