King was originally charged with mischief and counselling others to commit mischief. He was denied bail on Feb. 24, with the justice of the peace citing concern he may reoffend, while expressing doubt in the reliability of King’s proposed surety.

King’s legal team is seeking a review of the initial bail decision, with the hearing starting on Wednesday. But the hearing came to an abrupt end while King was being examined by his lawyer David Goodman.

An automated voice from the lawyer’s computer announced that there had been a security issue. After a brief recess, the lawyer said his files had been compromised and asked for an adjournment, which was granted.

A publication ban was ordered on the reason for the adjournment but this was removed early Thursday. Goodman said Thursday the situation has been resolved and there was no security breach and none of his files were compromised.

Thursday’s scheduled bail review also took an abrupt turn as Crown Attorney Moiz Karimjee announced there will be two additional charges laid against King.

He will be facing an additional charge of obstruction of justice and one charge of perjury.

Superior Court Justice Graeme Hew said a publication ban applies to the evidence and circumstances that led to those charges.

King is now scheduled to return to court Tuesday where a new date will be set for his bail review hearing.

This isn’t the first time new charges have been laid against King since he was arrested.

Further charges were filed last month against King and other key accused “Freedom Convoy” organizers Tamara Lich, Chris Barber and Tyson “Freedom George” Billings.

King was charged with intimidation and obstructing police, counselling to commit intimidation, counselling to commit mischief, counselling to obstruct police and disobeying a court order. He is being charged as a co-accused with Billings.
