Maj. Robert Baker, part-time deputy commander Cameron Highlanders Regiment of Ottawa, is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation.

The OPP has released few details on the case.

In an email message, DND said that, since March 23, “Baker has not been parading with the unit, nor receiving pay, while the chain of command evaluates available options.

“Pending the outcome of this matter as it proceeds through the civilian justice system, further administrative or disciplinary measures affecting the accused’s employment may be considered,” the DND release said.

“(Options) may include a recommendation for release from the Canadian Armed Forces.”

“The Canadian Armed Forces holds its members to a very high standard of conduct and performance,” the DND wrote.

Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa are based at the Cartier Drill Hall near city hall.
