Firefighters were met with heavy black smoke at the home and at 8:26 a.m. declared a “working fire” to summon additional resources to the scene.
Minutes later, firefighters entered the bedroom where the fire started and found a mattress fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters also continued a search for possible occupants to double-check everyone was out.
Thirteen minutes after fire crews arrived, the blaze was declared under control.
Firefighters used high-pressure fans to ventilate the smoke out of the home.
Crews also pulled down some of the ceiling in the bedroom and confirmed the fire did not extend past the room of origin.
A fire investigator was dispatched to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
