Bromley police given extra powers this weekend after gang robberies

Bromley police will be given extra powers between Friday March 11 and Sunday March 13.

A dispersal order has been issued in response to recent robberies by gangs of youths.

Police say the robberies took place in Bromley’s town centre.

The section 35 dispersal order was authorised on Friday.

Section 35 gives a police constable and a police community support officer in uniform the power to exclude a person from an area for a period of up to 48 hours with a police inspector’s authority.

A spokesperson for Bromley police said on Friday: “A Section 35 Order is in place from noon on Friday 11th March – noon Sunday 13th March in Bromley Town Centre.

“This is in response to recent robberies in the town centre by gangs of youths.”
