Moped driver dies following crash on the A1

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man died on the A1 at the junction with Sunny Gardens.

Police were called at 8.57pm on Monday, December 14 to reports of a collision involving a moped.

The rider, a 29-year-old man, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

At this stage detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit do not believe any other vehicles to have been involved.

They are keen to hear from anyone who saw the moped before the incident, or the moments leading up to it.

No arrests have been made.
