Brodie Lee was granted trademark rights to his ring name days before he passed away | Wrestling News

Jon Huber applied to gain trademark rights to his ring name, Brodie Lee, on November 26, 2019. He started using the name in 2003.

When he filed for the trademark, he was still working for WWE as Luke Harper, but had already planned to get out of the company. He used Michael E. Dockins, who has helped various wrestlers trademark their ring names, for the filing.

Lee passed away last Saturday due to a non-COVID-related lung issue. It turns out that the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued a registration certificate to him for the name on December 22nd for use in professional wrestling and merchandise.

Thus, he gained ownership of the trademark, according to Heel By Nature. Now, his family owns the name and can use it should they decide to do so.
