Matt Hardy shares one experience that most people don’t want to be on the wrong end of.
The latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy saw Matt and co-host Jon Alba looking back on the 2000 WWF Royal Rumble event, where the Hardys faced off with the Dudley Boyz in the first-ever WWF Tables Match. Going through some of the names in the WWF tag team division that were around at the time, Alba mentioned The Acolytes, Rock ’N’ Sock Connection and Too Cool.
Alba then pointed out how popular Too Cool was with fans before asking Hardy about taking a Stinkface from Rikishi. Matt then recalled what that unique situation was like from his perspective, and said it wasn’t as bad as most people would think.
“Many times. Many times. I’ll be honest, the very first time I took a Stinkface, I was like, ‘Oh my God, what is this going to be like?’ It smelled like baby powder. Rikishi, if you were a guy he liked, he would make sure to be super clean for you. It was like baby powder. It was actually very easy and not rough at all, it was delightful, even.”
Alba also mentioned some of the rumors about Mae Young ribbing people by making the experience a not-so-pleasant one, then asked Matt about Rikishi pranking people that he didn’t like. Matt said that Rikishi was part of The Undertaker’s Bone Street Krew so he could see it happening, and said he knew for a fact that some of the stories about Mae were true.
“He may have, I’m sure. He ran with that crew, he was one of Taker’s guys too, so I’m sure if it was someone that had a little heat or someone he didn’t like as much, I’m sure it would have a different scent to it, without a doubt. And Mae Young, she was a hell of a ribber, man. She was a disgusting individual. She was a woman who acted like a man, so I’m sure she did all of that. I know she did all of that.”
Matt Hardy has been providing a retrospective look at his early WWF career on his new podcast; Matt revealed that he pitched starting a ‘Version 1’ stable with Edge and Christian, which you can read more about at this link.
