The Usos Set To Defend WWE SmackDown Tag Titles At WWE Day 1

After challenging the Usos to a match at WWE’s Day 1 pay-per-view, New Day will get their wish, and have a shot at the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

During tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Jey Uso stepped into the ring against King Xavier Woods, but prior to that, Woods had some great news for himself and the WWE Universe, as he announced that his New Day teammate — and now Hand of the King — “Sir” Kofi Kingston was back. In the match, things broke down pretty quickly, with the bout ending up being called off due to disqualification as Jimmy Uso and Kingston began brawling, leading to a huge brawl between both teams.

New Day ended the brawl by chasing the Usos off, resulting in them celebrating and Roman Reigns looking on disappointingly from backstage. Later in the night, Woods and Kingston challenged the brotherly duo to a title match at Day 1, telling them they were ready to take the belts from the champs.

With the match set, there are now three confirmed matches for WWE’s Day 1, and you can view the fully updated card below:

  • Big E (c) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens – WWE Championship
  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. Sami Zayn vs. Brock Lesnar – WWE Universal Championship
  • The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) (c) vs. The New Day (King Woods & Kofi Kingston) – WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship
