The famous singer began the flight by moving around the cabin of the aircraft pushing a British Airways trolley and distributing drinks to the passengers. Lewis Capaldi then moved on to perform his brand-new song “Wish You the Best” which is currently unreleased. The singer played his guitar and sang acapella for the many fans aboard the flight.

“Wish You the Best” is from Capaldi’s brand-new album which is set to release May 19 on EMI Records. The album is titled “Broken By Desire to be Heavenly Sent”.

Also aboard the flight were four super fans of Capaldi’s. These customers were unsuspecting and had specially been invited onto the flight. Rowan and Georgie Gupwell, sisters and two of the super fans were asked about the inflight concert. They were obviously excited, saying,

“This was the most amazing surprise. We’ve been huge fans of Lewis since his first song, ‘Bruises’ in 2017. We have tickets to see him live later this year, so to meet him up close yesterday was a moment we’ll cherish forever, and we can’t wait to see the new song live again in concert!”

Also aboard the flight was Nicola Barker, who is a British Airways employee and self-described super fan of Capaldi. She spoke about the inflight event, saying,

“What a ‘pinch-me’ moment it was to watch Lewis perform with his guitar during the flight – not only did he sing, he served me a great a G&T too!”

Capaldi played several snippets of the song, including the chorus and a verse of the track. The unreleased track tells a brief story about missing someone, yet wishing them well in the future. Capaldi, in the song, describes being far apart from someone you deeply care about. This is an experience relatable to many flying passengers, as some fly to reunite with those they care about.

Additionally, in the song, Capaldi mentions “it seems like Glasgow gets further from LA”. This is especially significant as the British Airways flight mentioned was a flight traveling from London Heathrow to Los Angeles, California.

British Airways mentioned, in a statement about the event, how proud the airline is to continue to be a part of each passenger’s unique journey and how it connects passengers across continents across the globe. The airline also mentioned that reuniting passengers is made possible by British Airways’ growing global network, which includes frequent flights from Glasgow, London to Los Angeles, California via London Heathrow.
